The year was around 1970. I had one of the original Yamaha 60 Mini-Enduros. First was from its introduction in 1976 until 1981. See ya on down the trail. So if your into Chinese made buggys it do not matter what others think just have fun. Put it back together and now we have sparked. It has a lot of new parts.
When you guys rebuilt the carb I don't think you would have changed the main jet but look in the manual to make sure it is the correct size. I, on the other hand, have had a great experience. Verify that the fuel is returning to the tank by removing the return line from the tank and letting it run into a cup. However eventually it to be a pain. Does the fuel needle seat properly and shut off the fuel when the floats are up?? I have a 1983 Honda odyssey fl250. So we rebuilt the carburator and still the same thing. There are a couple of small dents on the bumper and three of the fenders are cracked but functional.
I read your very first part of this post and you said you replaced the stator and coil and then got spark so you started it and it ran but fouled the plug right away. This is an outside chance but it is possible if the return line or check valve is plugged. It's all part of the fun. Yes they are fast and all but they dont have rev or electric start. He's now shared this information and knowledge with others and now they pass this information on with additional information that they've learned.
Todays bikes are a far, far cry from what was available in the 70's. I find it difficult to believe it is flooding with the fuel turned off and the needle in the top groove very lean. And even though there were two Yamaha dealers in town, parts were not always in stock, and you couldn't order from the manufacture, and there was no internet. Iam happy you like your oddy but there are pros and cons to everything. It's just a matter of what you do when have them.
You can see this first generation below in some of Honda's original marketing materials. No disapointments Category - Engine - Posted Over 1 Month This one seateroff road odyssey has beenbuilt by elk grove custom cycle. I could almost guarantee that if all the buggies were japanese honda made or a name brand, there wouldnt be near the ammount of that stuff. Don't forget about looking into the National Bash. I'm hoping to get it to last for years to come. This is starting to confuse me.
We gravity feed it though so it can't be the pump and if the carb was calling for to much fuel when we unplugged it and ran it on what was in the bowl and it didn't change. It ran great before and all we replaced was the ignition coil in the stator. The suspension setup includes a rear solid axle with ballon tires, and a small independent shock system with balloon tires for the front. Pilots are the holy grail of single seaters. See the world from a whole new level. Although I like the power to weight of the 2-stroke, I like the wide power band of a 4-stroke much more.
And we also tried to gravity feed it and it did the same thing. This really has to do with driving style more than anything else and a thumper fits mine I think even a Kubota diesel fits me better than a 2-stroke. I've been on the Oddy and Pilot forums. A few months after installing his, he installed mine and had it all tweaked and working in less than 30 minutes. I also wouldn't go onto a forum dedicated to the Oddys and call them a piece of fecal matter.
I can't understand why only the Chinese are in the buggy game. A honda odyssey is the toy for you. I never said that all china buggies are fecal matter, I only said that the ones that I've had ended up being complete junk after the first month. That's something that you can't put a country of origin on. I love my doom, but not because it was cheap!!!! The lack of a full roll cage and rear suspension along with a separate front bumper put it more in the go-kart category even though it was powerful enough and often used for off-roading. It recently lost spark so we took it apart and changed the ignition coil in the stator.
I'm in it for the long run now. If you are looking for a mini buggy and want something with lots of power and a single seater, don't fall into the trap of buying a piece of crap china buggy. On top of this cracks in the frame were common due to no rear suspension along with bent frames from rollovers. We find solutions and we share them. So if your new to odyssey's read every thing you can on them. Also we shut of the fuel to the carb and ran it and it ran all the gas out of the bowl with no change.
There are a bunch of guys on here that own them. But I've seen a couple of china made buggys out there that look real good the hammer head an trail master for two. My odyssey is 27 years old, and is still basically brand new! I'm really suprised too that there haven't been more than one or two name brand companies making buggies or mini buggies too. They rebuilt The engine , and rebuilt the carb ,all new front end , andnew rear end all new, tires, upholstered seat, and , paint. Category - Engine - Posted Over 1 Month This one seateroff road odyssey has been gone through engine rebuilt, carb, front and rear ends all new, new tires, upholstered seat, and , paint. Well the flooding issue could be that the pump is over powering the floats because the fuel can't return to the tank. Was the machine running fine before you had the coil and stator changed?? This machine is fast and very powerful and a very good fit for almost anyone.
